Ledger Device Setup

Step-by-step guide to set up your Ledger hardware wallet securely and efficiently.

Welcome to Your Ledger Wallet Setup

Setting up your Ledger device is simple and secure. This guide will walk you through each step to ensure your crypto assets are protected from the start. Ledger devices offer robust security, giving you full control of your digital assets without relying on third-party services.

Before you start, make sure your computer is connected to the internet and you have downloaded the latest Ledger Live software. Keep your recovery phrase safe and do not share it with anyone. This is the key to your crypto wallet and must remain private at all times.

Step 1: Unboxing and Inspecting Your Device

1

Carefully unbox your Ledger device. Ensure the package is sealed and that no components appear tampered with. The box should contain your Ledger hardware device, a USB cable, instruction card, and recovery sheets.

Inspect the device for any signs of damage. If anything looks suspicious, contact Ledger support immediately. Never proceed with a compromised device.

Step 2: Connecting the Device

2

Use the supplied USB cable to connect your Ledger device to your computer. Once connected, turn on the device by following the on-screen instructions. The device will guide you through selecting a PIN code for security purposes.

Choose a PIN code that is both secure and memorable. Avoid common sequences like "1234" or "0000". Your PIN protects your device if it’s ever lost or stolen.

Step 3: Setting Up Recovery Phrase

3

Ledger devices use a 24-word recovery phrase for backup and recovery. Write down the words in order on the provided recovery sheet. This phrase is the only way to restore access to your wallet if your device is lost.

Never store the recovery phrase digitally or online. Keep it offline, in a safe and secure location.

Step 4: Installing Ledger Live

4

Download and install Ledger Live from the official Ledger website. Ledger Live allows you to manage accounts, send and receive crypto assets, and update firmware securely.

Open Ledger Live, connect your device, and follow the on-screen instructions to sync your wallet. Make sure your computer is free from malware and viruses for maximum security.

Step 5: Managing Your Accounts

5

Once your device is set up, you can create multiple crypto accounts using Ledger Live. Each account corresponds to a different cryptocurrency, and Ledger Live allows you to view balances, transaction history, and manage assets efficiently.

Always double-check addresses when sending crypto, and never share private keys or recovery phrases with anyone.
